How to create random groups

1. Paste one student name per line.
2. Choose whether to split by number of groups or by group size.
3. Select Generate groups.
4. Use Shuffle again for a new random arrangement.
5. Copy results when you need to paste them into another classroom tool.

Choose group count or group size

Use group count when you know how many teams you want. Use group size when you know the maximum number of students per group. The generator shuffles first, then distributes names so group sizes stay balanced.

Copy or reshuffle groups

After groups are generated, use Shuffle again to create a new random arrangement from the same list and settings. Use Copy results when you need plain text groups for slides, chat, or another classroom tool.

Privacy: names stay in your browser

This tool does not use login, a database, analytics, ads, external APIs, localStorage, or sessionStorage for student lists. Use only the names needed for the current classroom activity, and avoid student IDs, school IDs, emails, phone numbers, grades, health information, classroom identifiers, teacher names, official records, or other sensitive personal information.
